CORN SILAGE VARIETY EFFECT ON YIELD AND MILK PRODUCTION IN DAIRY COWS IN BROOKS COUNTY

Abstract
Corn silage is a major crop utilized to feed 11,000 dairy cows in Brooks County, Georgia. The county ranks second in the state for milk production. Variety trials are essential tools used to assist both dairy and agriculture producers in the selection of varieties that give the highest tonnage and highest pounds of milk per acre. Thirteen varieties where planted in a randomized complete block design with three replications. Plots were harvested and weighed separately. Samples were analyzed at an outside lab for nutritional values and milk production.
