Abstract

Annie’s Project is a nationally recognized educational program designed to empower women in agriculture by providing essential business and risk management skills. Participants gain knowledge in financial management, marketing, human resources, production, legal considerations, and entrepreneurship. This poster aims to help Extension agents understand their role in the program and identify strategies for recruiting diverse community partners. Implemented as a six-week hybrid program, Annie’s Project was developed through a multi-county collaboration between Family and Consumer Sciences and Agriculture Extension agents. Recruiting participants and establishing partnerships with organizations such as Farm Credit, USDA, local Public Relations Associations, attorneys, and insurance professionals are key components of program success. The curriculum includes weekly educational sessions, hands-on activities, and networking opportunities, supported by strategic marketing and evaluation tools to maximize outreach and impact. Through collaboration across multiple counties, Annie’s Project expands its reach, equipping women with the skills and resources needed to build sustainable farm businesses. The program fosters confidence, strengthens business acumen, and enhances professional networks. Conference attendees will gain insight into best practices for program implementation, marketing strategies, and interactive learning opportunities. Additional resources and facilitator training information will be provided to support ongoing efforts in empowering women in agriculture.
